February 8th - You Are an Artist

What do you think of when you think of an artist?

I think of tuxedoes and grand musical concerts, and everything about theater. I think of paint pallets and color everywhere. I think of a typewriter and the smell and feel of expensive paper.

"But each of us is an artist.

An artist is merely someone with good listening skills who accesses the creative energy of the Universe to bring forth something on the material plane that wasn't here before. It was a part of Spirit before we could see it...

So it is with creating an authentic life.

With every choice, every day, you are creating a unique work of art. Something only you can do."

Sarah goes on to talk about making big and little choices, about playing it safe verses taking risks. She suggests trying new things, something different, but don't feel overwhelmed. Start small. Try a different drink, a different restaurant, a different nail color, a different Pandora station...

"Each time you experience the new, you become receptive to inspiration. Each time you try something different, you let the Universe know you are listening.

Trust your instincts.

Respect your creative urges.

If you are willing to step out in faith and take a leap in the dark, you will discover that your choices are as authentic as you are."

I can't say if for sure I've done this. I think it's subtle. I try a different recipe for dinner, or I'll try on something that I didn't think would look good on me. I put on purple glittery nail polish last week. I cut my hair in a pixie two years ago or so. I'm blogging every day.

I feel like this is kind of like sincere, real intent. This talk is a good example of real intent, even though it's entirely religiously based, I think the real intent part applies to making some different choices.

Curiosity isn't enough. Having a desire isn't enough. We actually have to have a real intent to try to become authentic. To listen to what our heart is telling us to do, and then do it!

Good luck.
I know I could use some.

1) Bad days. They seem to come in a pattern. Two good days, one bad day. Being able to predict what my mood is going to be is kind of cool. Not having any desire to get out of bed, not so much. But at least the bed is comfy, and my children beautiful and old enough to play for a little while by themselves.

2) Piano lessons. I love teaching, even when they admit that they didn't practice and it breaks my heart a little...

3) Holding babies. He's not so much a baby anymore, I don't remember how old he is, but he was crying and so I took him over to the piano and he stopped crying as I held him and we played together. His hands are so tiny and cute. Then he started crying when he saw momma...children are little manipulating munchkins.

4) Cleaning someone else's house. I don't know what it is...

5) Bed time. Night ya'all.
