December 3rd - Make Love

Sunday, December 3, 2017

Sex is a funny subject.
Those of us who are LDS are taught
from the time we're kids that chastity is the way to go.
Often times, we learn that sex is bad, instead of sex is sacred.

So then we get married...
and suddenly it's okay.
It's more than okay, it's encouraged!

But, but but but...
Ah!

At least that was my experience.

And then kids came along, and depression.
Marriage takes a lot of work, and sometimes sex does too.

The women I know lust after twelve hours of uninterrupted slumber.
The only married women having sex as often as the
magazines and marriage experts tell us we should be
are on the soaps.

Often the real-life demands of family and work mean that married women discover there are many ways to make love besides the missionary position: turning the lights down low...never going to sleep without saying "I love you"; calling once a day just to see how it's going; attending a couples' massage workshop to learn how to do it yourselves...telling each other how nice you look; touching...filling up the talk...doing the crossword puzzle together...reading, talking, laughing, crying together in bed.

"Exhaustion and lack of privacy make intimate moments of raw passion rarer than in our courting days...Sex is also meeting your partner's eyes over the tousled head of a child...Sex is sometimes just sleeping well beside the person you love, and drinking coffee together."
-Linda Aaker

Marriage is hard.
It is so, so hard.

But if you're doing it right,
sex isn't that hard.

If you're kissing often,
kiss your spouse good morning, after prayers, good-bye,
kiss your children as often as possible,
then kiss your spouse when they come home,
and a couple more times before bed,
you're breaking down the physical barriers.

And touching. Don't forget to hold hands, to hug...etc etc.

If you're complimenting each other, serving each other,
thinking about how you can make their day better,
having good, open and honest communication,
continuing to date each other,
staying healthy and becoming your authentic self,
and staying true to your spouse...
etc etc etc...
sex isn't so hard.

If you're making a conscious effort to get enough sleep
 so you're not too exhausted,
if you accept your reality that it is what it is and be happy with the fact that you probably can't be spontaneous until your kids leave the house,
learning how to communicate about sex and each other's needs and wants...

Anyways, there's a lot to it,
but at the same time there's not.

Making love is important.
So is a happy marriage.
Take the time to work on it.
There are worse things you could be doing.

Also, there are sex therapists.
Not like creepy people,
like my therapist is also a sex therapist,
and she's super cool.
Just in case you might need one,
no shame.

1) Sundays.

2) Robbie let me sleep in until 10:30.

3) Taking it easy and doing what we needed. We bathed the kiddos, and we thought we would just feed them and go to church...nope. They were all freaking out, so we put them down for a nap. They didn't get up until 2. Then half an hour to eat lunch, and finally we're at church in time for the last of second hour. Let sleeping babies lie.

4) Freezer meals.

5) Putting up the Christmas tree, the stockings, and nativity. It's starting to feel like Christmas.

December 2nd - Kiss Kiss

Start Quote
Every woman knows the subtle nuances of puckering up:
fly kisses, bye kisses, real kisses.

Lock-the-door kisses...

Passion ignites sexual energy or creative energy.
Your choice.

Every artist, if they're telling the truth,
will confess that when they're working at full throttle
- writing a book, making a movie, directing a play,
preparing for an exhibition, rehearsing for a concert,
choreographing a new pas de deux -
the sex drive diminishes...

That's because we can make wild, passionate love
or make wild, passionate art.
Rarely both at the same time.
[Rarely...improbable, but not impossible.]

This natural sublimation process works just as well in reverse.
Found yourself in a solitary space as far as an
intimate relationship is concerned?

Don't waste time sulking.
Try not to get caught up in what's missing
but what's presenting itself to you.

Dame Fortune's knocking.
Invite her in...
Fall in love with your authentic self.
There is nothing sexier than the woman emitting
the pheromone of personal fulfillment.
You'll not be alone for long, unless you want to be.

I love kisses.
I love to kiss all over my children,
and then eat them.
Because they are delicious, and good enough to eat.

Robbie has never liked public displays of affection.
And I love pda...to an extent.
So we've reached a common ground over the last 7 years,
a little pda goes a long way.

Also, I never wore lipstick because I didn't like it going everywhere!
I felt like I couldn't kiss my hubby, ever.
Lipsense changed all that.
Every time I kiss anyone they always have to double check
that no color came off, and no color ever does
Riley especially, loves to try and transfer it from my lips to hers.

Do you know what kills your sex life?
Depression.
Then you take anti-depressants,
which kills your libido even more.

Fun stuff, right?

Kiss. Kiss often.

Sorry about the terrible picture. I'm sure the digital copy is somewhere,
but I didn't want to go searching for it at 11 o'clock. I just took a picture of the picture
on my wall.....lame, but you get the point.

1) Kisses. Sweet kisses, pecks on the cheek, even butterfly kisses. All kisses are good.

2) Cousin birthday parties and bounce houses.

3) Reading a book. I read an entire Jack Reacher novel in like 6 or 7 hours. Not straight, but in the last 24 hours. It was amazing.

4) Not fearing a depression wave.

5) 29 days left.

December 1st - Charmed Lives

Friday, December 1, 2017

Remember when having charm was a good thing?

Well, it still is, don't get me wrong...

Today we're talking about the charm of the world.
We all want to live a charmed life,
so much so that we forget to love what we have.

"There is entirely too much charm around,
and something must be done to stop it."

Start Quote
Charmed lives.

Crammed down our throats
in the glossy pages of lifestyle magazines.

Paid for with a portion of our life energy.

It's sick, I tell you, sick.

You know who was celebrated for having a charmed life?
Now there's a thought worth meditating on.

Actually, we all have charmed lives.
We just don't have a conscious awareness of it,
especially after reading about the airbrushed lives of other women...
End Quote

Sarah then tells us a story about Everywoman.
Every, single one of us, is the same.
Every woman has "great sorrow, humiliation, pain, and despair",
some just wear designer clothes and appear in magazines.

Our own lives have their own charm.
Live them and love them.

1) A lazy Friday, with some much needed rest. Because apparently I didn't get enough during the week?

2) Doing crafts with my friend...and glitter everywhere. Whoops.

3) Robbie said I looked like I could be a vampire from twilight because I'm so sparkly. HAHA.

 HAHAHAHA!
He really hates glitter.
I did not know that until today.

4) Leftover pizza.

5) My home. Especially now that it sparkles.
